When I was young, at the peak of awkward, flubbing through my pre-pubescent, "only a Mother could love" days...I met you.
And, I imagine that...
I wasn't that much to look at
Surely I wasn't that interesting to be around
Definitely I couldn't have been uplifting to listen to
Basically, Me
When I met You
Was all Around
Most of all
Quite determined
To clearly be
Not in the least bit nice
Specifically
To you...
I didn't want you to love me
didn't want you to care
wanted you to leave me
really didn't want you anywhere
that I was
at all
And You
Stubborn You
You Loved Me Still
You Loved My Ugly
Loved My Hate
Loved Me Silly
No Matter What
You always told me
Even then
I'll never leave you
No matter what
"I'm not Giving Up on You."
And so...
Just so you know...
I heard you then, I hear you now...
I listened and I learned
Learned what real love was
Learned what was true
Learned to endure
To believe
To be true
Learned what to fight for
Learned when to give in
All this
And more
I learned
From You
And now
This moment
This time
This now
Because you taught me well
I boldly stand
I have no doubt
I know now what to do
I hear God's voice
I feel His Peace
I gratefully answer His call
And that is why
I shout out loud
I'M NOT GIVING UP ON YOU!
It's not over
Your story is not done
There's more left to be told
Our God of Miracles
Is not Impressed
By lazy sloths on the ground
If we're to witness
The end result
Of our brazen prayers
Then we must all
Join hands
Unite
Show Him
That we Care
That we will actively
Hold God's hand
Not stand idly by
We will do
What can be done
We will follow
Our God's lead
We'll join his triumphant shout
When we stand
And actively show that
WE AREN'T GIVING UP ON YOU!

Delete Comment Maggs....please post as many of your pictures of Odee as you can. I ask that so everyone can see what I have seen these past long months. God shines through this man, not only to his family but to everyone who has said a prayer for him. He is a beacon, along with your Mom, to show the world how the faithful truly feel
If you or your mom would publish all of the writings she has done on the Care Pages, it would also give everyone an insight into how God has blessed these two as a perfect couple in love forever.
We may not get the results WE want, but God has a plan and it will be Perfect. Odee is a true man of God and it shows through his eyes everytime he is looking at your mom, your girls and you. That man knows true love from the source. I have never met him, but somehow he has managed to touch, not only my heart, but many, many others out here that have never met him either. I don't know why that is, but I'm not going to question it either.
I'm here for you always, my grasshopper........

Delete Comment We are agreeing with you in prayer today. We love you, your father and we support you all.
Through all of the emotions you feel God will shine forth with truth, support, understanding, and faith.
Father God in Jesus name we ask you to present your touch to our family;s father today who is also our spiritual brother in Christ. We believe with our friend and sister that you heal him. We pray for you to uncover other helps out there for we know that you minister through many vessels, the healing arts, and other talents. We also believe in miracles . For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever which means it is in your power and your ability according to your will, In Jesus name.
In Jesus' name we ask. Amen

Delete Comment I heard your pain. My husband of 34 years was diagnosed with Prostrate cancer three days before Christmas. He's a retied Marine and one of the quotes jarheads love to use is "Marines don't die they go to hell and take over." Well, I think your Dad's smile will take over your family and my Marine over take over hell but accept all the love his family has and it will make him stronger.
I think your Dad's so cool! Hug tuff, homegirl, hang tuff.

Delete Comment Dearest Maggie,
Fight for him, because that's what a daughter does. I fought for my Pa and in the end God took him, but I don not regret fighting for him. I loved him with all of my heart and he knew that because I fought for him.
I loved your poem. You're a good daughter. I care about your Dad and will support him in prayer. God bless you, too, as you are laboring under a heavy burden as well.
May God who cares for the widow and the fatherless (Psalm 68:5) bring
about good medical care for your father.

Delete Comment Cherry, last night Sara and I were talking about all the different avenues to take, where to turn for information, and I swear, both of us at the same time said......'CHERRY'! Cherry will know....and here you are with the links! You amaze me, and it also amazes me how God ALWAYS puts out there what it is you need.....it may not be what you want, but it will always be what you need.

Delete Comment Dear Maggie,
I know how difficult is to have your loved ones ill, specially during holidays. You and your Dad are in our daily prayers. Please don’t lose hope and never give up praying and asking God for resolution. I believe in miracle, physicians only express their opinion, God is the healer. I hope he gets well soon.
With Love

Delete Comment I can so relate to everything you have wrote here about your dad Maggie..I went throught the same things with Barry when he first came around and married my mother..I cried when I read what you wrote..For I had and still have the same feelings for Barry..Unfortunatly he gave up on me and chose a new life with his new wife..But anyway that is besides my point here...
Your dad still looks like he has so much life to live and so much more to give..I have faith that god will pull his miracles and that your dad is not done..You are absolutly right when you say YOU ARE NOT GIVING UP..Nobody should give up on the ones we love..God does not give up on us now does he..
I love you Maggie and YOU are a STRONG woman!!

Delete Comment MAGGIE: I LOVE YOU. I KNOW WHAT HAVING TO DEAL WITH TERMINALLY ILL FAMILY IS LIKE. BOTH MY MOTHER AND FATHER DIED OF CANCER. THEY HAVE BEEN GONE SINCE 1992 MY FATHER AND 1994 MY MOTHER. PRAYERS ARE THE BEST THING IN THE WORLD. FOR PEACE AND UNDERTANDING, FOR LOVE, FOR CARE AND CONCERN, BUT THE BEST THING TO HELP YOUR FATHER THROUGH THIS IS YOUR LOVE. NOT CHANGING A THING EXCEPT TO LOVE THEM MORE THAN YOU POSSIBLEY CAN. TAKING THINGS ONES STEP AT A TIME. SMALL STEPS AND IN THE LONG RUN ACCEPTANCE OF WHAT IS HIS LIFE AND THE CELEBRATION OF HIS SOUL. I WANT YOU TO KNOW I WILL BE HERE FOR YOU NO MATTER WHAT YOU AND HE SHOULD NEED AND IF EITHER NEEDS SOMEONE TO WRITE TOO OR TALK TOO. I ALSO USED TO WORK IN THAT FIELD SO, I WILL MAKE MYSELF AVAILABLE TO YOU ALL. HUGS AND BLESSINGS AND MANY MANY ANGELS TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR FAMILY. HEALING IN HOWEVER YOU ALL MAY NEED IT. LOVE YOU. Delete Comment Maggie, what wonderful pictures of you and your father. What a blessing to have a father. I grew up with a stepfather who was wonderful until the divorce and then learned he wasn't my father. Throughout life I have envied those who have wonderful fathers. I envy you in a good manner. As you know, I do not envy your father's hardship, nor do I envy the pain involved in your father's situation. I envy your smile when you speak of your father. God has blessed you and your family with this most wonderful man, a light in your life. I will pray that God blesses you and your family and your father, miracles are abound, its a new year for blessings!
